Losing data is never fun, especially when we are talking about images from a party, or from a trip abroad, or from any other moment in your life that means a lot to you. Luckily for victims of data loss accidents, there are specialized applications out there that can recover deleted data. One such application is the OctaneSoft-developed eIMAGE Recovery, a tool that recovers images and other multimedia files from a variety of storage devices (cards, USB sticks, HDDs, and so on).

eIMAGE Recovery works with Windows 7 and all previous versions of the Microsoft-developed operating system down to Windows 2000. To get the application to work you will have to download a small archive, extract and run the executable inside, and click through a very simple installation wizard. You will be done in no time at all.

Not even a novice computer user will have any problems with the application’s interface. At the top there are some big, round buttons for the Settings, Tool, Live Update, and Help menu. In the window to the right the application displays all selected drives. And down at the bottom, in the right hand corner, there’s the Exit button.

eIMAGE Recovery can detect and recover image files that you accidentally delete or image files lost due to a data loss accident. Select the drive where the images used to be stored, pick the scan mode (choose between a Quick scan that takes little time to complete and a Full Scan that’s slower, but has a better detection rate), then select the images you would like to restore. Support for JPEG, GIF, BMP, AVI, WAV, and several other multimedia files is provided; this means you can recover, JPEG, GIF, BMP, AVI, WAV, and other multimedia files. You can recover these file types from hard drives, SD cards, memory sticks, and other storage devices.

Please note that eIMAGE Recovery is only free to try. The demo version will detect deleted or lost multimedia files, but it will not recover them. You will have to get a license to get rid of this limitation.

Easily recover images and videos from a variety of storage devices with the eIMAGE Recovery tool.

Pros

Works with numerous Windows editions. The interface is good looking and easy to use. Provides support for many multimedia file types and can recover deleted or lost files from a variety of storage devices. Choose between a Quick and a Full Scan.

Cons

The trial version detects deleted or lost files, it does not recover them.
